Be BOLD...

I was flicking through checking out some editorial make-up looks. Make up artistry is one of the most underrated careers I swear (That's just my opinion anyway!)
These artists have the ability to transform your face into a world of colour, and make you literally look like a living piece of artwork.

I understand that my last post was about alternate fashion, and I guess this one is a little too (Maybe that's my headspace right now, but its a large part of my inspiration... Look past it!) But if Gothic chic and bright colours (And don't forget the thick eyeliner!) isn't your thing, replace them for black, brown and bronze tones, there is no reason why this website can't help you create a wicked eye for that fierce dress you were going to wear to that birthday!

The website I stumbled upon is called Squeak Machine. They offer a step by step, easy to follow tutorial on the the most amazing eyes. By clicking on each individual picture comes a guide to what colour was used and even the best brush to achieve it. There's no fancy words or ridiculously outlandish instruction. Just everyday knowledge that the make-up artist has so wonderfully chosen to share.

This season is all about the block colours, strong geometric patterns, and again COLOUR!
So dust off those 80's colours you've been itching to use but too afraid to put on, grab that liquid eyeliner and false eyelashes and GO TO TOWN on this bad boy!

And next time I see you out, there had better be some crazy detail on your lids :)

A bit of Accoutrement

So my usual morning consists of checking my emails, catching up on the blogs, a quick look at the trends and then up and away!
After a rather hilarious conversation with a friend yesterday, I revived my love for the cartoon Invader Zim.  Many of my earlier days were spent with friends, laughing and quoting lines, it's a cartoon worthy of any age.
So after a quick google search of such images, I stumbled upon something BRILLIANT. So brilliant that it had to be shared.

thevintagedoctor.com

For all those out there that LOVE accoutre, and even for those who never really knew that word existed... (ac·cou·treVERB - Clothe or equip, typically in something noticeable or impressive)
This website is worthy of any lover of alternate fashion.
Based online from the US there are dresses, corsets, skirts and tops (Even Gift vouchers for
a good Christmas gift for the Mrs... Hint hint!) there is FINALLY a market out there for girly
pin up style fashion, that isn't covered in flowers! (Not that there is anything wrong with
flowers ladies, We all love to play girly from time to time. Some of us just can't quite pull
off the role!)
With fabrics involving beloved characters, anything from Ghostbusters, Space Invaders,
Goosebumps and Batman to Alice in Wonderland, Care Bears and Harry Potter - there really
is something for ANY girl.

Do me a favour - Check it out and start making that mental shopping list we all have, and
maybe get in touch with one of your childhood favourites.

Ahhh I love nostalgia ;)

Inspire Me

Welcome to the crazy scattered mind of Allie!
This all started when my editor told me that I should start a blog... She advised that I had a knack for words, and an ability to share my fashion vision with whoever wants to read it!

So a little background, I'm currently studying to be an Image Consultant/Fashion Stylist at the Australian College of Professional Styling. I've been a professional dancer since I was 17 which has taken me to places around Australia, USA and throughout Asia. Because of this, I've always had a passion for costuming and fashion design. Then 6 months ago when life unexpectedly threw me a curve ball, instead of falling into a pit of despair and self pity, I decided to chase down a career I've always wanted to pursue, one that helps me assist others to feel good about themselves. Which lead me to, you guessed it, Fashion Stylist!!
I'll be shooting my portfolio in the coming weeks, assisting shoots, working, studying as well as coming up with 9 looks for an upcoming shoot. It'll be crazy, it'll be hectic, but I've never been known to sit in one place for too long...!

So here's to my crazy journey! Stay tuned for tips, trends, experiences, shoots and of course PHOTOS!
Speaking of which, here's some of the pics that inspire, encourage and challenge me on a daily basis... Don't we all love a good montage? ;)
